About the Event

Trees Atlanta and Freedom Park Conservancy invite you to Join us for the Caring for John Lewis Flowering Forest Celebration

Freedom Park Conservancy is pleased to join Trees Atlanta in celebrating the completion of the multi-year living tree tribute to the legendary Congressman John Lewis.

Join us at this celebratory event whereby volunteers will assist us in planting a ceremonial tree in honor of the multi-year effort, additional maintenance of the Forest, food for purchase and giveaways!

For the past 5 years, Trees Atlanta, the Freedom Park Conservancy and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights have collaborated to honor the late civil rights leader by leading volunteers in the planting of over 300 flowering trees. These particular trees bloom in February each year, as a timely celebration of Lewis's birthday on February 21. Additional trees were added each year over the past 5 years in February, creating a stunning 1.5-mile landmark corridor of blooming trees through Freedom Park, linking John Lewis Plaza, The Carter Center and the King Center

Volunteers who wish to participate in the event are required to register in advance.
